Project Runway

Discuss: Project Runway Season 8

Here is what you answered:

by JKW » Thu Aug 12, 2010 2:40 am I am enjoying the post interview with Tim on the Lifetime site. The judges have made some mistakes on taking out the designers. The extra 1/2 hour was definitely needed. It is a much more interesting show. The designers appear to be more qualified. I look forward to the upcoming show.

by Jenny » Fri Aug 06, 2010 4:16 pm  I like the extra half hour. So far they are spending it on what I want to see – the design process and showing more of the garment themselves. I’m not sure how it will be when there are only 5 or 6 designers left, though. (As far as personalities, they seem to have bonded together much quicker than earlier seasons did, which is nice to see. I know I’m in the minority, but I prefer when they seem to get along well. I don’t want to watch all the silly drama.) I like the jumpsuit that won this week. I wouldn’t WEAR it, of course  but I can appreciate the design and the details. I’m glad the judges also eliminated the right guy this week… who should have gone home LAST week.
by Alma » Sat Aug 07, 2010 4:34 pm  I haven’t had a moment to sew and will be away for a week starting tomorrow, but I did get in Project Runway!
Barb…congratulations on the site, job well done.
Jason was so off the wall, epi.1 and 2, Jenny I agree he should have left in epi.1. They were too harsh on Mckell.
Both Cassanova and Valerie were not impressive in epi.1 (what were those 2 flaps on Valeries bodice?)
But they both showed their stuff in epi.2, I expect they’ll do well.

Jenny, I hate the back stabbing too, but I’m more of a cynic. I’ll be shocked if the congeniality continues as an all around tone.

I admit to being a sucker for Mondo. He broke my heart, but what a talent.

IMO season 7, season was a bore…inIMO. I think this season will go both higher and lower. We’ll see!

Barb, knowing the fabric would be nice. Now all we can tell is when Tim says it looks cheap!

Tumbling Rocks J Crew

We love the texture on this silk/cotton crinkle! Amorphous shapes in rusty pink tumble on a crinkled ivory ground.

Fresh for warm weather climates year-round, this will work for blouses, skirts and dresses.

An additional 1/2 hour has been added to the program — is it worth it, do you think?

Thanks Andy!

Meet the Web Master- By Barb

Behind all good things is a master mind.  Our Wizard of Oz is Andrew Blom. Yes, that’s right, he’s Barb’s eldest son.  Andy has worked with SB behind the scenes since he was in middle school.  Finding time between school, summer jobs, college and graduate school, he’s been a consistent part of the development of our online presence, taking us from a single home page in 1996 to our first online store in 2000, upgrading and adding new elements every few years to our biggest project yet in 2010.  Andy is now a full time Ass’t Professor of Philosophy at Central Michigan University and generously agreed to help us re-design and upgrade our web site during his summer break. We are thrilled with the outcome and want to thank Andy for his enormous effort this summer. His knowledge of the business was invaluable as he designed various features to service our customers in a user-friendly way.  We couldn’t have done it without him!

So many others to thank. While Andy was behind the scenes, our staff at Sawyer Brook devoted many hours to uploading the product to the new store venue and brainstorming customer suggestions to incorporate into the new site.  Many thanks to Colleen, Dixie and Janee for tedious product input and for learning the new system once we went live!!  Kudos to Judy for keeping everything flowing while we were distracted with the details and then learning the whole system in one day.  She did great!  Sue has kept your packages flowing out the door in spite of the distractions as we transferred from one system to the other and has cheerfully helped customers navigate the instructions to “Connect”.

Nancy and Denise have worked hard helping with our other summer project—moving product around the warehouse for a more customer friendly environment and an easier workspace for the staff.  That was no small task and we’re not done yet! And Evelyn has labored at the sampling table to bring you mailers on time and keep our fall inventory moving in the right direction.  In addition to the new web store, Colleen is bravely learning the ins and outs of our new web site.  It took a village as they say…

Thank you one and all!!!  We hope you enjoy all the new features!  If you have comments or concerns about the web site, please contact us at service@sawyerbrook.com

Your Vision: Vogue 8648

by DrSue » Sun Jul 18, 2010 7:49 pm

I thought you’d like to see the Vogue dress I made using a recent SB linen.

The fabric was perfect for this design. The slight striations on the linen allow the bias cut to be seen but didn’t require matching.

Lovely dress and lovely work! Thanks for sharing, Dr. Sue!
