Whether you’re trekking the wilds of Africa, or big game viewing on ESPN, the relaxed look and feel of natural fibers in soft earthy tones beckons. Like the tides, the look waxes and wanes from one fashion season to another, but its presence is a comforting constant. In recent years the look has morphed from animal prints to large scale botanicals with soft neutrals all the while following the pack. This season, the “Out of Africa” solids of soft off-whites and natural khakis rule the savannah and hold court over beasty and botany.

Spring 2008 is singin’ the blues — Azure blue to be precise. It has taken the Oscar for the color of the season and is currently playing across the nation, receiving rave reviews from an enthusiastic audience of the fashion conscious.
Green is not just a trend, but a way of life that is changing everything we do. Change can be good when alternatives to former products are attractive and easily accessible.

Hand crafted gifts bring us back to the spirit of this wonderful holiday season. Scarves are quick work that yield big results in less time than finding that elusive parking space at the mall. A few lengths of fabric and purchased beaded fringe result in beautiful one of a kind (or 2 of a kind) neckwear that says so much in a warm and thoughtful way.
Sweaters are taking a twist this season and being shown at RTW as wraps, coats and jackets. With the shawl collar neckline and midi length taking reign as the silhouette of 2007. Pair them up with boots and slim pants or skirts to complete the “right now” look.
The mood for fall dressing is soft, drapey, and relaxed. In other words, velvet, especially stretch velvet, is key. It’s glam, feels great to wear, and has romance appeal. What other fabric can do all that? What is also nice is the versatility. Dress it down as a wrap top with your favorite jeans, funk it up with hot color and wear it as a comfy scarf with your fav jacket, or swish it around as a romantic skirt or soft flounced romantic femme fatale top.
You don’t need a detector to find metals out there in the marketplace this season. You can find their influences everywhere! From weighty chains, grommets and buckles on accessories to the mating of the shiny stuff with fabric in chenilles, brocades, sheers, knits and even laminated onto cottons, the current craze of Europe.
Leopardess (shown) – Join the fun with these delectable silk jersey knits in blue and plum. The pattern from nature is there, but the colors are pure fashion!
