We just got in a supply of very large (1 1/2" , I think) sew-in magnetic snaps. They come in 3 metal tones (silver, black nickel and antique gold). We know they will be desireable for jackets and sweater coats. Our suppliers tell us their purse designers love these. I am curious as to the style purse/bag on which this would be useful.

I have to admit - I have not seen snaps that size on purses. I'll be looking though.....

When I make totes, very often I use a fabric tab, inserted just inside the opening to snap it closed. I think I'll give your new snaps a try for that purpose and if I come up with other new ideas I'll share them here.

Correction Dixie tells me these are not magnetic, simply giant snaps!

These snaps were a HUGE hit at the Sewing Expo held in Worcester MA this past week. We displayed them with our other snaps, and many people commented on them. Several shoppers said they didn't know what they would do with them, but they just HAD to have them. Others said they would use them on handbags, or jackets.
I have a ready-to-wear jeans jacket that has this style of snap sewn inside the placket. The jacket came with 5 large rhinestone-like pins that are worn on the outside of the placket, over the snaps. Cool thing is, I can glue pins on the backs of other buttons and change the look, making the jacket both versatile and fun.
We'll have the snaps listed on our website later this week, so keep an eye out for them!

The HUGE snaps we've been talking about are finally on the website. I hope the ruler helps you see how large they are (1 1/4").

You can find these on the Handbag Handles page: http://store.sawyerbrook.com/Templates/frmTemplateL.asp?SubFolderID=173&SearchYN=N&purse-handles

We'd love to hear the ideas you have for using them!
