My Pueblo jacket is moving closer to done! I have the shoulder pads and lining all in place. Last week I was ready to do the buttonholes, but I couldn't find the buttons. I cleaned up my sewing room a little bit and found them under a box of pins. Now I need to do the test buttonholes, take a deep breath and do the ones in the jacket. My tank top is almost done too. I finished the neck and armholes with those bemberg rayon strips (thanks Lois!). I love the look. Maybe I can post a picture this week.

Well, I was determined to do more on my Capri jacket this weekend, but we ended up dog sitting for our daughter's pug puppy...that was a full time job! I did manage to get her to sit at my feet as I cut the bias strips for my hong kong finish. I haven't gotten to the machine yet though. I chose a batik, Parfumerie, to do a contrast hong kong finish. It's funny, because the rusty brick color of the jacket is not anywhere in the batik. It's purple, fuchsia, raspberry with a bit of yellow. But I like the look, at least for the finish. I have a tank top cut out of the same batik. I'm not sure if it will work under the jacket or not. Either way, I like the contrast for the seam finish. I'll try to make headway and get a picture posted this week.

Oooohhh Barb - Parfumerie! That's one of my favorite batiks! I trust your judgement that it works with the Rusty Nail. I can hardly wait for a picture.

I'm looking forward to seeing your Hong Kong finish, too. I haven't ever tried that.

Many, many years ago, without knowing what I was doing, I finished off the seams of an unlined coat using a Hong Kong finish. After the fact, I read about the technique in the Vogue Sewing Book. I still have the coat, still wear it but I haven't used the finish very often. I am looking forward to seeing the picture Barb.

Here's a picture of the Pueblo fabric made up in the Capri Jacket and matching tank top. I wore it to our ASG annual potluck dinner last week. I got a nice compliment on the buttons perfectly matching the fabric!
