| A friend gave me 3 yards of double faced wool coating, camel and grey plaid on one side and solid grey on the other. I plan to make a full length winter coat, reversible of course. Last winter, I saw a coat that I liked a lot in an upscale boutique. It was very simple, just straight up and down, reversible with a button and loop closure (the price was well over $1000.00 which is why I didn't buy it). I am interested in suggestions for coat patterns. I haven't seen a pattern I like in the major pattern companies and am thinking that one of the smaller pattern companies might have something I would like. Does anyone have any ideas? I do not want a big full coat that would overpower my 5' 2" frame.

| This pattern might work. I found it on a small pattern website called Akasha. It's a little pricey at $15, but it looks similar to what you described.

| Thanks Zigzagger! That pattern you suggested is just about what I had in mind. I bookmarked it and will probably purchase it unless someone comes up with a better pattern. I liked a lot of the patterns on her site.

Check out Barb Callahan's Parade of Flowers:

I did three of them, two in a double faced wool I bought from Banksville, and they came out beautifully. I would widen the collar a bit to accommodate the turn of cloth on a heavier fabric than she originally built the pattern for, but it's so straight-forward you'll have it done in an afternoon. It's only about four pieces. I modified it to add a CB seam. And it's very elegant when it's done.
Also, I added about 4" of length because I made it for my niece and sister who are both much taller than me, but I'd add length for myself, too, and I'm only 5' tall. That's because I prefer a longer coat.
I'm trying to attach a photo. Don't know if I can.

| Thanks Denise, I looked at that pattern and it is beautiful with the needlepunch embroidery. I especially like the foldover collar which would work well in a reversible coat. The pattern shown is a jacket, I could lengthen it to make a full length coat. Is that what you did? Do you know how to do that type of embroidery?
