We're seeing so many skirts this season...I'm not just talking runway here, but actually on the street. Lot of women are choosing skirts rather than shorts for warm weather dressing. Printed silk and rayon in crepe, chiffon, georgette and charmeuse seem to be the most popular choices for the flirty look. Lightweight cotton, such as lawn would also work well and be a bit cooler on the body.
In terms of styling, we're seeing lots of 12 and 16 gore skirts that would work up really well in linen or cotton sateen. Who's made a summer skirt? Let us hear about it...we can all use some inspiration!

For an old sew4u project (www.sawyerbrook.com, click on sew4u, then archive), we did a batik skirt with a flounce. I must say, this fabric was unbeatable for summer weather. It was thin, breathable and flowy, as well as cute, without being see-through or itchy. I have another skirt pattern I would like to make but can't decide between all of the beautiful Sawyer Brook batiks!

I think it would also be interesting to try batik in a bubble-style skirt.
