Sometimes you may want to create a link in your post to direct others to a web page you are referencing, for example, an item in the Sawyer Brook web store. There are two easy ways to do this while writing your post:
- Simply copy the destination URL (web address) out of the address bar of your browser and paste it directly into the text of your message. The URL will be automatically turned into a link when you Submit (check this by doing a Preview).
- Use BBCode to create a text link. If you would prefer to turn one or more words in your post into a link, simply highlight the relevant words and click the "URL" button (located just below the subject box). This will create two BBCode URL "tags" around the text. Inside the first tag (the one without the slash), type the equal sign (=) after the word 'url' and then type (or paste) the destination URL. Here is an example of what I would type if I wanted to link the words "Sawyer Brook Homepage" to its address:
| Code: | | [url=http://www.sawyerbrook.com]Sawyer Brook Homepage[/url] |
The second method is sometimes preferable when the URL is very long and would take up more than a single line in your post. Shorter URLs are easier just to type in using the first method.
