Hi, I'm Carole and I work at Sawyer Brook one day a week cutting all that gorgeous fabric. I bring a lot of it home and I sew as much as I possibly can. In April, another Sawyer Brook employee, Colleen, and I started making the Capri Jacket as a kind of joint project and have had a lot of fun working together. It seemed like a natural step to reach out to other sewers in cyperspace and see if anyone else wanted to join in.

If you're interested in making this easy to sew, easy to wear jacket with us, join in. The fabrics Barb has identified are terrific. The jacket goes together easily. Along the way, I'll share some things I learned about sewing my first one, out of a nice purple tencel.

It's always fun to see what others are sewing, so post pictures if you can. It's not all that hard, the first one is the most difficult to figure out. Ask questions, too, if they come up.

I'm already planning my new Capri Jacket out of a wonderful white fabric called Luxor, that I just bought from Sawyer Brook's Back Room. I've never had a white jacket and am really looking forward to it.

The fabric I ordered from the Back Room, Luxor, arrived. It's just wonderful, drapey and textured all at the same time. I think I'll line it with white rayon bemberg.

Since Friday is the sew along kick off, I'll spend some time in my sewing room that afternoon cutting out my jacket. Sounds like a nice ending to a very hectic week.

Barb, you must have been reading my mind. I think the La Jolla in black would be perfect too. Looks like I will have my white (Luxor) and black (La Jolla) jackets for this summer. I like the slight texture of the La Jolla. I wish I could wear it in the pink, but it's usually not a good color for me.
