This is a first post for me. I hope I am doing it correctly !! I am returning to sewing after a vacation of eight years and am excited to be re-entering the world of sewing.
Does anyone know whre I can buy copies of the Austrailan sewing magazine "Stitches" and current copies of Burda Magazine. I would rather buy ones I want than suscribe. I am in the North of Boston area and now that Fabric Place is going I have no p;ace to buy either.
Also, has anyone tried Nancy Erickson's skirt or jacket (#1945.) I have read pros and cons on Pattern Review but I love her concept of being able to change the look of the same pattern. Also, I am a Woman's size 14-16 depending on brands so I wonder if these pattterns will work for me- any input ??

Thanks in advance.

I know some Borders book stores carry Burda WOF magazines. I don't know who has Stitches.

Check PatternReview classifieds, too. I sell my issue if I know I am not going to use them soon. I bet i am not the only one Smile

Hi MizLiz, Nice to have you on the Salon! I have used Nancy Erickson's patterns since they first came out in 1998. The are well designed and easy to fit. She has great customer service and answers questions by email.

I'm working on her 1945 jacket in the Sew Along section of this salon. I've already finished one and am mostly done with another. Why don't you click over and read about how my project is going?

One of the best things about her patterns is that there are 'many opportunities for fit'. She includes lots of seams so you can let out and take in where necessary. I think I've made all of them now. I always return to them.

Good luck!

Thanks to Nata and Carole for responses on Nancy Erickson and Burda/Stitches Magazines. I appreciated the input and will check out Carol's entry on the jackets. Thanks for the welcome, as well. This e-mailing on the Salon is a new experience as well!! I think I like it !!

I live in Indiana and there is a shop in Northern Indiana called Ericas. She carries Stitches as well as a lot of others that are hard to find. You can purchase each issue individually. I have mail ordered from her. She has reasonable MAPS and I received my order very quickly. You can look up her website at Ericas.com. She is a quilting/craft store that is very successful. pam
