I have subscriptions to several sewing magazines. I would love to find an easy way to get my hands on specific articles with out having to go through every magazine. Does anyone have ideas on how to organize?

Most magazines have an online search feature on their website, and that's where I go first when I want to research something. The search gives me the issue # and page # to find the article I need. So I keep my magazines sorted by issue or date order.
Some people write on the outer cover notes about pages and articles notable to them. But I don't do that.

For other magazines which I choose not to keep, I tear out articles and store in plastic sleeves in a 3 ring binder. I put the entire article in one sleeve with only the 1st page visible, the other pages inserted behind. This saves space. Inside the binder, I use the pre-numbered notebook tab pages sold in office supply stores (I use 1-30 numbered tabs). On the Table of Contents page included with the tabs, I write broad subjects (stitching articles, inner construction articles, art-to-wear ideas, etc) on those numbered lines, and file the articles in the proper section. I don't bother with alphabetizing that list, just enter one subject after the other. It's easy to scan down the list to pick the section I need and flip to it.

Hope these ideas help. Let us know what works for you. You might come up with something we haven't thought about.

Lois: Thank you so much for your help. I am going to check out the magazines on line and see what I can do about setting up binders. I notice your are in Orange County as well. Thanks again!
