What were these people thinking? Here we have the most sculpted beautiful bodies in the nation and they are putting them in cocktail dresses and milkmaid outfits??? I just don't get it! How could so many of them been so far off the mark? As for the loser, come 'on sweater dressing? with faux jewels? You've got to be kidding me. It seems to me when they're right, they're right, but when they're wrong they are so far off it's ridiculous. As for being right, the use of lightweight leather and the small details of red and blue mismatched zipper really made the outfits. Barb and I are at odds on the frou frou ascot and jacket ensemble. She loves it...me, not so much. I kept waiting for some outfit to come out with stars on it, but no stars were out that night! I like the skort, but not the weird length and USA on the side reminded me of a big missle.
I am noticing with this new group that they haven't really watched the show in the past four seasons. In the very first episode, who wasn't yelling at their TV set...DON"T USE THE TRASH BAGS!!!!

Ho-hum some of the antics are really boring me! I would sew much rather see the construction techniques! I am beginning to tune into the aesthetic that informs some of the designers' choices and continue to favor Terri and Korto.
So Terri continues to be one of my favs. I love her finished products. She gets fit and she gets detail at least from what I can see. She would have been my vote for winner. I really loved the crinkled red and white ascot. I thought it gave a very feminine touch to otherwise tailored sportswear. My second choice would have been Korto's outfit. It was sleek and sporty but still had a feminine dimension. The white is striking...maybe a bit more color would kick it up a bit. Did not like the Joe's skort, but thought his idea for the mixed color zipper was clever.
OK, it was so time for Jennifer to go...not my idea of a designer. I'm disappointed in Daniel's execution and think he's next to say bye-bye unless he really comes forth next week. And let's quit the giggles, Kenley!

Did anyone else watch the opening ceremonies last night? What a fantastic spectacle! If you didn't see it, I urge you t catch it online somewhere...really worth the time to watch the first hour.
Now for on topic...Ralph Lauren designed the USA athletes' uniforms. I thought the look was classic, but clean and fresh. Loved the hats ... they worked on almost everyone.
Join in with your opinions...it gets lonely out here talking to myself!

| Sorry Barb! I was really tired last night and didn't get to see the Ralph Lauren uniforms. I did see the Chinese dancers in those beautiful teal, pink, and gold dresses. They were amazing! And there were so many of them too!

Who watched this week?
I think the day to evening challenge is a real world challenge even if it's not about Lipstick Jungle???!!! Many women I know wear many hats and operate in lots of different venues within one day. Whether you're going from work to date or work to school events or home to social evening...sometimes you only have time to dress once for the whole day! So I thought this challenge tapped into an element of everyday life. Of course, the outfits were for a character with an unreal life, but the concept is the same...how to kick up an outfit without a full wardrobe change!
Now to the designers. Still liking Korto (although I was disappointed with the fit of the underdress) and Terri (needs to get out of her niche and bring a different look). Daniel really needs sewing instruction...I can't even tune into his design ideas, because he is unable to execute them. Still think Sylia has some great skills. Hope she can find her way out of her niche and experiment with other fabrics and silhouettes. Oh, the winner...Keith definitely earned it. Great idea, nice execution. What's with the medicated giggle, Kenley?

Well, I was running behind the eight ball all season, but I've finally caught up and watched the last episode. First of all, I really enjoyed the runway shows. I thought each designer deserved to be there. I looked back at my posts from early in the season and see that Kenley, Leanne and Korto were among my favorites from the start. I find I always admire a designer who has the technical skills to execute their vision and all three of them do.
Kenley has great skills but needs so much refining in terms of her ability to work with others and accept criticism. Hopefully she'll get some good mentoring and find her way in the design world. I think she has a lot to say and certainly the skills to execute her ideas.
For my taste, I would have chosen Korto as the winner. I think she brings something unique and wearable to the marketplace. But I certainly can appreciate Leanne's skills and her vision. I thought her runway show had a little too much sameness about it, but that said I loved the fact that she carried through on her theme in so many different garments. My favorite was the pants/top outfit! Gorgeous!!!!

| I watched this years Runway and enjoyed it. I do wish that the show would focus alittle less on the drama and more on the construction but I guess drama sells. My favorites were the four that were left. I agree that Kenley needs to mature and develop a thicker skin. I do feel that her construction technique was the best. When she painted all that fabric, I was blown away. She kept getting accused of copying designers. Well, I was leafing through an old Threads magazine the other day and there was a "petal" skirt reminisent of LeeAnn's skirt. Hm. I think that everyone has a similar idea at certain times. I liked LeeAnn's designs but I felt that her Runway show was very much the same. I was impressed with how Korto took the advice of the wedding and bridesmaid dressed and changed them. Overall, I felt she should have won. She was professional, her work was executed well and she had unique designs. I was personally hoping Kenley would win. I think she has great talent. If she can mature and learn to take advice from others, I think she will go far.

JKW sent these comments to me and asked me to post them
| Quote: | You asked what we thought about Project Runway
2008. I wanted to let you know that I felt this year was the best year
of all of them (yes, I have followed it from the beginning).
I believe that it was because everyone of the designers was excellent --
a lot of talent, ideas, good designs, and hard workers. There was a
clash of the wills once in awhile, but this is the minority compared to
other years. They were absolutely riveting this year. They finally,
after all these years, got it right.
I thoroughly enjoyed this year's project runway. |

JKW again...
| Quote: | I am just 'hoping' that the producers will realize this is what we all
want. . . If there is a large number of people in agreement, perhaps someone can contact someone (of importance) at Project Runway regarding this issue. I would be happy to put my name on something like that too. |
