I finished it. I want to thank you for being so patient. It took me a while but I don't think I would have done it if I didn't participate in this sew along.

I am missing buttons and there are a few loose threads and basting stitches. But for the most part it is done.

Barb has matched these buttons for me:
I should receive them sometime soon. I will take another picture once I have buttons attached.

Your blouse is beautiful! Congratulations on finishing it! You have done a wonderful job - through an event-filled summer. I'm buying that pattern the next time I see it and I'll look forward to sewing it next summer.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and photo! I sew so much more when I am inspired by other people's experiences. I also like to learn from accomplished sewers their experiences with patterns.

Natalia I love your blouse! Very pretty. And you should be congratulated for completing it after your busy summer.
Sadly I had to put my project aside. My niece asked me to make her Bridal Veil (Cathedral Length) which I just completed it (19 hours of hand stitching pearls and crystals!!). And I have also sewn many other garments and/or hems for the wedding party and have been prepping for the Bridal shower which is this weekend. So it's been very busy in my sewing room and I'm happy to be the seamstress of record!! Laughing
I hope to get back to sewing on my own projects in October after the wedding and after out of town guests leave.

I just wanted to Pop-in to say hello. And Janee - how is your daughter's dress coming along? I have increased admiration for anyone who makes a Bridal Gown, after my experience with the veil.

Have fun sewing everyone. I will be lurking as I get my tasks completed for the Wedding.

Lois,

Thanks for asking - Erin's dress is nearly done. I've been attaching the lining today, lots of hand-stitching there too since the gown is sleeveless, and I elected not to reopen the shoulder seams of the gown to attach the lining to both neckline and armscyes (think of lining a vest to the edge - same principal). The gown fit her so perfectly, and every needle hole shows, so having to resew those shoulder seams in the round, struggling with the lining, was too frightening. Instead, I staystitched both the lining and the gown around the armscyes, clipped and pressed the allowances to the wrong side. On the gown, I then sewed the allowance to the underlining with a catch-stitch. Now that I've joined the neck edges with machine stitching, trimmed, pressed and understitched, I'll be hand fell-stitching the lining to the armholes to finish that off. Susan Khalje would be proud of me - but she'd question why I didn't use the same couture finish for the neck edge! The gown hem is also nearly finished, the horsehair braid has been sewn on, I just need to finish hand-hemming that to the underlining. Then all that's left is the hooks & eyes on the waist stay, the buttons down the zipper, the lining hem and the bustle. And my label! Oh, and she decided she wants a veil after all, so I'll be doing that next week - at least she only wants an elbow length, narrow ribbon edge on a plain veil, gathered onto a comb - no headpiece to make. And no handwork on beads or crystals!

Nata, you blouse is absolutely beautiful - and I agree, it's amazing that you've had the presence of mind to sew at all with everything you've been going through!

Nata...
Love the blouse! Love it!! I think the kazoo buttons will work really well for you. I hope you agree once you see them.
I want to thank you from SBDF and all those who participated and/or followed along...many followed without participating Smile

We appreciate the effort you devoted to posting your progress and your sewing issues. We hope this experience will encourage others to lead a sew along. The only requirement is that a fabric from SBDF be used. Contact me by email or pem if you are interested.
