Just read a review of a new book, The Collection, historical fiction set in the haute couture houses of Paris after WWI. I can't wait to get it and start reading!

| I am not much of a TV person so if THE HOUSE OF ELIOTT was ever shown on PBS, I missed it. I came across it a few weeks ago at the library when someone else was checking it out and the librarian ordered the series for me. This BBC drama is on DVD and I finished series one and am now going to watch series two. I don't know how many series there are. For those who are not familiar with it, it is the story of two sisters in London in the years between the two world wars. Their father died and left them penniless with no ability to earn their own living except for their expertise in dressmaking. They build on their talents and establish a fashion house. It is very entertaining to anyone who likes clothes because the fashions (including the hats) are fabulous. Has anyone else seen it?

I have been getting House of Elliott through Netflix. I love it! I agree with you that the fashions are incredibly fun to see. I just finished part four (Disc Two) and I was fascinated with the outfits...I'll have to check out who was in charge of costuming for the series.
Just checked...Joan Wadge won an Emmy for Best Costume in a Series. Well deserved I would say.
