I have a new coat that need buttons. Will this work?

I am replacing a brown plastic 2" button with a metal vintage reproduction of a woman with long hair. The replacement is a 1" button. The coat is black wool and the 1" button is a gold with black to give it an aged appearance. Will the smaller button look ok? Thank you for your help.

The best way to assess the difference is to lay the coat out with the new button placed on it. If you think it looks too small, you could try to fnd a plain black or gold button that would act as a larger rim. Think of a plate charger on a formal dining table. You will have to stitch the ends of the button hole to make it smaller if you use only the one inch button. Hope this helps.
