Musings from Colleen on a forever trend.
It’s been around awhile, but instead of fading out, color blocking has exploded on the spring scene in new and innovative ways. I have been seeing some very different interpretations at RTW and from celebs at various photo-op galas. These photos are from Pinterest.
Leafing through the Macy’s catalog recently I came across a jacket and pants pairing from Michael Kors, which I found very arresting. It was one of those outfits you see every once in awhile that really strikes a chord…
Both pieces were color blocked in black and white, which in itself is striking, but what really set it apart is HOW it was color blocked. The front pieces of the jacket and pants were white, both back pieces were black. The sleeves of the jacket were black. The pants pocket opening slits are on the dividing color seam line. The overall look is simple but so striking.
Right now SB has a good pairing for this pieced color block look:
The other color block concept which seem so yummy to me this spring is pairing up solid separates in hot hues. This look can be worn by everyone in some fashion. Photos below are from Pinterest.
yIf If you look good in brights you can mix up solid bright pieces together for a very fun look or you can keep the body in quiet/soft tones and wear bright accent accessories like a pair of hot color shoes or a bright belt, scarf, hat, or carry a hot summer color bag. However you do it, its hot summer fun fashion!
On Pinterest, I have been pinning a lot to our Color blocking board, you may find some inspiration there!
