Best Match is a FREE service for matching buttons, thread, lining, interfacing, and zippers for your custom order!

As Easy As 1-2-3

 

1 Select the “Best Match Service” box while placing your order.

 

2 Tell us what quantity you would like to receive for each matched item.

In the “additional requests” box, feel free to include any relevant information about the garment you are constructing and any other special instructions for us to consider when we match your request and any special constraints you may have on price. Your match will be made by a competent sewer who is making the choice as if it were her own garment.

 

3 Then, simply add to your cart!

What if I want a Best Match for an item not in my order?

Mail us a swatch!  In addition to matching buttons, thread, interfacing, linings, and zippers to any order from our mailings or our online store, we can find the Best Match for any garment your are constructing.  Simply send us a swatch of your fabric or yarn and an experienced sewer will find the perfect match!

Along with your swatch, please tell us what you are making (short jacket, classic blazer, one button unstructured jacket, skirt buttons down the side, etc.) and what “look” you’re going for, i.e. dressy or casual, contrast or blend, artistic statement or subtle sophistication…  It is helpful to give a size range for buttons and zippers and a price range for any of our products.

Many of our buttons are available to view and buy right here through our online store (see Distinctive Buttons).  But our selection of unique designer buttons does not stop there!  We have an expansive collection of exquisite buttons from classy basics to rare treasures that wear like jewelry.  Per your instructions, our experienced sewers can search through our collection for the perfect button to match your garment!

distinctive touch+ Members:  Many of our buttons are chosen to work with the fabrics offered in our seasonal fabric swatch mailings.  If you are a member and are looking for the perfect match for one of fabrics in our swatch collections, please ask us to find the Best Match for you.

Our buttons are priced individually (not carded) so you can choose the exact number you need.  We suggest purchasing an extra since we cannot always guarantee continuity of stock.  We will do our best to send you the button which best meets your criteria. As with all our products, your satisfaction is guaranteed.  If you are not happy with our choice, just send the buttons back for a full refund.  See our return policy.

We pride ourselves on having some of the most unusual, yet wearable buttons.  We love the one-of-a-kind buttons, but many of our garments require a more basic look. If you are looking for an “unusual” button to match with your garment, then our “Best Match Service” is right for you!

Thread

We have a full stock of over 500 colors of high-quality Swiss Metrosene thread in our warehouse.  We will custom match the best thread for your garment.

Zippers

We carry 9″ and 22″ zippers in both regular and invisible that we will match according to your instructions.

Lining & Interfacing

Our stock of lining and interfacing fabrics are available for you to view and order in our online store.  However, sometimes our customers wish to have one of our experienced sewers match lining or interfacing in person to find the perfect match for your fabric order.
